Specialized Journalistic Services, Seinforma SJS, is an alternative journalistic project that was born in Colombia in October, 1997. The victims of the armed conflict, as well as the victims of the lack of state prevention in the matter of security, social, political cover of disasters and road infrastructure, were its first beneficiaries.
Seinforma served then like bridge of communication between those victims and/or their relatives, with offices of lawyers who applied social tariffs and maintained of their own pocket the lawsuits of claim of indemnifications against the State.
Through Seinforma were many the families who were repaid by the loss of a dear being and its moral discouragement, at least with important sums of money for their support and the future of its new generations, in memory of the sacrificed ones. These dramas corresponded to human or injured losses during an attack with explosives; by excesses of a penitentiary guard, of a military man or a police during flagrant violations of Human rights and/or the Right Humanitarian International; in cases of deaths of people under safekeeping of the Government, like between the outstanding personnel in the battalions or of internal in the prisons; or by the disappearance of valuable lives during natural avalanches and other events, when the danger previously was identified but was not solved by the official apparatus.
Still today, people don't know that they have right to compensation when they are victims of the war or the upsetting of agents to the service of the States are few, for default or action of civil employees or armed personnel.
For year 2000, Seinforma begun to its communitarian service called Employment Information Service, SIempleo, that consisted on the specialized search at national level of job offers post for the unemployed personnel, in agreement with its profile.
In the following three years, the program obtained a result of positioning of 14% between its registering, 14 of each 100 aspirings obtained use during the first trimester search, in a country where the official numbers appraise leisure in a 17% and a under employment of 42%, while non official numbers show respectively 23% and a 56%.
During this dissarrange, security reasons forced Seinforma's founder to change his residence city as a result of their local mass media performance, until when March of 2003 it settles down again in Bogota, the Colombian capital, where it is connected with different nonGovernmental Organizations (NGO's) who prohang by the Human Rights; with the local and the worldwide Feminist Movement and with the economic and social cause third-world “Commerce with Justice”.
During this last existencial stage of Seinforma in Colombia, the press agency dedicated to the psicosocial recovery of people in displacement situation and help people persecuted by the Government for their politic ideas, and to spread the thought of vindication of the women.
Seinforma in Canada: the same fight , a new scene
In autumn of 2005, once installed in Ontario, Canada, it is searched the way to reactivate the journalistic agency. It is analysed what was the Seinforma trajectory in Colombia and the upsettings that it suffered, among them two criminal attacks, the governmental and also from a part of the own journalistic union censure; as well as the situation of its country in the matter of Human Rights and corruption, so similar to almost the totallity of the Latin American nations.
This is how a goal arises, an intention of life in Seinforma, consolidated in the fight for the Human Rights and the Freedom of Expression, mainly in Latin America, with the support of Not Governmental Organizations, alternative media, university students, professors and professionals of the communication and in diverse fields of the knowledge in the whole region.
In this intention, Seinforma won't only keep serving as a press agency but acting as a non-profit organization, supporting the Latin American social movements, the defending groups of Human Rights and new alternative and communitarian mass media of the region.
Also it is being connected with the worldwide movements of fight for the human dignity and frees transmission of the thought; and with the global movement for the care of the natural surroundings. Seinforma is Poets, Essayists and Novelists (PEN) Member; Writers in Exile in Canada Member; Canadian Ethnic Media Association (CEMA) Member; Writers Against the War (WAW) Member; Windsor Peace Coalition Member; In August 2006 Seinforma joins to the Resist! Collective of Vancouver. Also it is a Greeenpeace and Doctors Without Borders (DWB) volunteer.
